Caroline was born at home on January 13, 1923 in rural Carterville to Mr. and Mrs. Logan N. Colp. The home and farm originally belonged to her grandparents, the John Colps, a pioneer family in Williamson County. Although she was very active with the American Association of University Women, the Carbondale Panhellenic, Delta Theta Tau, a local sorority, and the American Cancer Society, she considered her role as wife and mother to be her most important achievements.

A memorial service was held at the Pyatt-Harrawood Funeral Home in Pinckneyville on Friday, June 21, 2002 at 2 p.m.
